Nyasha Matanda has over a decade of experience in healthcare regulation and leadership, Nyasha uniquely combines professional insight, entrepreneurial innovation, and powerful storytelling to inspire transformation in individuals, institutions, and global communities. In 2016, Nyasha founded Silkebee Skincare, a natural skincare brand born out of love and necessity to soothe her daughter’s eczema. Rooted in a rich family tradition tracing back to her maternal grandmother in 1950s Zimbabwe, Silkebee has evolved into an award-nominated brand that celebrates heritage, sustainability, and the science of natural care. The brand has been recognised internationally, including shortlistings at the Black Beauty and Fashion Awards (UK and Africa) and Conscious Beauty Brand of the Year at the Beautyworld Middle East Awards, with exhibitions at the Dubai World Trade Centre. It has also been featured in leading publications such as Harper’s Bazaar, Natural Beauty Magazine, and The Voice.
Nyasha’s entrepreneurial excellence has earned her accolades including the Precious Awards Movers and Shakers 2020. She has further strengthened her business acumen through prestigious programmes such as the eBay x Black Girl Fest Sellers Academy, Foundervine Immerse Accelerator, and Lloyds Bank Business Scale-Up Academy. She also contributed to the Black British in Business and Proud Report (#BBIBPreport), presenting findings at the UK House of Commons. Beyond business, Nyasha is an emerging voice in diaspora-led economic development and trade. She has recently gained recognition within her diaspora community through her participation in the SheTrades Women’s Mission at the Zimbabwe Embassy in the UK, and her upcoming speaking engagement at the Women in Agribusiness Investments Summit. Her growing influence was further affirmed when she received an award at the African Women in Healthcare Awards in Zimbabwe, in the presence of the Deputy Minister of Women’s Affairs and leadership from the Africa Investment Forum.
Nyasha has also contributed to high-level policy and health dialogues, delivering the vote of thanks at the Diaspora Health Cluster engagement, attended by Zimbabwe’s Minister of Health, the Permanent Secretary of Health and other members of the Zimbabwean Parliament, demonstrating her ability to operate confidently within government and institutional spaces. She currently serves as Head of the Natural Cosmetics and Wellness Cluster for the Zimbabwe Diaspora Professionals Network, a strategic platform designed to connect diaspora expertise with government institutions, private sector partners, and investment opportunities in Zimbabwe. Through this role, she is actively shaping pathways for trade, innovation, and sustainable development within the natural products and wellness sectors. Her earlier career in healthcare regulation includes roles within the Care Quality Commission (CQC), NHS Litigation, and the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), specialising in inspections, investigations, and compliance. Backed by an LLB Law with Business from Kingston University London, this foundation informs her ethical, purpose-driven approach to leadership and enterprise. Nyasha’s advocacy has reached national platforms, including participation in an All Parliamentary Party Group on Black Maternal Mental Health. She also serves as a Voluntary Director and Company Secretary at Meshebah CIC, where she supports marginalised communities through initiatives focused on youth development, migrant support, and women’s empowerment.
