Patrick’s curiosity for how things work was sparked as a youngster by the science magazine TV show Tomorrow’s World and the sci-fi series Star Trek. These cutting-edge and futuristic stories provided him with fuel. Fuel that would illuminate and expand the limits of what his young mind knew to be possible.
Patrick’s most memorable lightbulb moment was at an after-school science club. He and his fellow students were shown how to extract DNA from an onion using regular household supplies. Pouring the final ice-cold alcohol solution into the soapy, oniony mix, he marvelled as the gloopy DNA dissolved out from the liquid. His fascination for the interconnected systems of the natural world was ignited.
Patrick’s childhood also ignited a strong sense of drive, patience and persistence. No stranger to adversity, his secret to success comes from using these traits to visualise and create more preferable outcomes in life. This helped him navigate a highly competitive TV industry, which – after many years of focused and determined effort – led to securing his dream gig as a science & wildlife TV presenter in 2013.
Patrick has delivered keynotes at several corporate events. These include Citywire Global
New Ideas (2019), the Wildlife & Safari Travel Show (2019), the CLIA ATAS Expedition &
Adventure Forum (2020), and MIPTV (2022).
Patrick is also experienced in hosting live studio events. These include BBC’s Springwatch, ITV’s The Pet Show, Widescreen Festival’s Panda Awards, and the Natural History Museum’s Wildlife Photographer of the Year Awards.
