Heather Reid is an award-winning Speaker who supports schools and other settings to create inclusive cultures for their students and staff, so that they can improve outcomes, including wellbeing, retention, attitudes and attainment. Heather does this through engaging, interactive workshops that help participants get out of their head and into their heart. Heather’s clients have included Amazon UK, Telford & Wrekin Council, Telford African and Afro-Caribbean Resource Centre, scores of primary and secondary schools, colleges, and community groups. She has developed workshops for children, teens and adults in the Caribbean, inner-city Birmingham, and Telford, sometimes addressing audiences exceeding 2,000, helping to transform perspectives, policies and practice. For the last five years, Heather has addressed over 3,000 to 5,000 persons each year. Serving as the first Wellington Resident Poet during the isolation of lockdown in 2021-22, Heather brought hope and inspiration to tens of thousands of local residents, presenting her poetry both in-person and virtually. She is Cofounder of Wellington Community Art Gallery, presenting art workshops to culturally diverse and neurologically diverse children and adults.
With over 40 years’ experience in speaking, training and story-telling, Heather combines her Caribbean effervescence, clarity of thought from her postgraduate training in Statistics, creativity from her experience in Art and Poetry, and her competence raising neuro-diverse children to captivate large audiences with varying learning needs, and catalyse results.
One of Heather’s strengths is her willingness to tackle difficult conversations effectively, presenting them age-
appropriately, helping audiences to feel empowered rather than guilt-ridden, empathetic rather than pitiful toward others, and to build bridges rather than barriers. Heather is personable, speaking with passion and authenticity, weaving her lived experiences into her presentations. Her audiences are enthralled – each one feeling understood, seen, and heard. She specialises in making complex concepts simple – easy to assimilate and apply, thus making Heather’s presentations irreplicable. Her primary motivation is her love for people, and the desire to influence her world for good.
